Zaev awards plaques of gratitude to MPs of the first multiparty composition of the Assembly
Skopje, 30 December 2021 (MIA) – Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, at a special ceremony within the program to mark the country’s 30th independence anniversary, presented plaques of gratitude to members of the first composition of the multiparty Assembly from 1991 to 1994 as an expression of deep respect for their exceptional contribution in the creation and development of the independent and sovereign state.
In his address to participants in the event, PM Zaev pointed out that the plaque is a recognition of the Declaration of Independence, of the decision to call a referendum, the introduction of pluralism, the establishment of new democratic institutions, the election of the first democratic government, the first Constitution of the independent state, and the overall commitment to building the common homeland.
He added that the MPs had adopted a Constitution that defined the Republic of Macedonia as an independent state, whose sovereignty comes from the citizens and belongs to them.
“You, the MPs from the first composition of the multiparty Assembly, are the creators of the new democratic and social state which was founded on the principles of parliamentary democracy, division and independence of the three governments, the rule of law, the market economy, and the inviolability of private property. According to all standards of modern democracy,” Zaev said.
He pointed out that history has written, and citizens will remember, that the MPs from the first term of the plural Assembly from 1991 to 1994 participated in the creation and adoption of all other necessary state-building acts and documents that clearly paved the way for building an independent and sovereign state.
