Youth should restore trust in institutions to stay in the country: debate
Skopje, 2 November 2022 (MIA) - Young people are the driving force of the society. Young people leaving the country has been witnesses over the past years, including those who could contribute to the most progressive changes in the country. It is necessary to unite and join forces to keep young people here and restore their trust in the institutions, it was concluded at Wednesday's panel discussion on youth policies, organized by Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance Policies, Slavica Grkova. "I'm seriously concerned about young people leaving the country since the process is unlikely to weaken anytime soon," Grkovska said addressing the event. The government, she stressed, will not give up on its intention to improve the situation in the country until as many young people as possible decide to stay here to build their future. According to Grkovska, the government will be focusing this year and the next on restoring the trust of young people into the institutions by strengthening them to be professional, efficient, responsible and transparent. The Agency for Youth and Sports is fully committed to young people being included in the decision-making process, said its director Naumche Mojsoski. "The more young people's standing is strengthened today, the better their future will be," he said. Mojsoski announced that the Agency in partnership with UNDP and the OSCE Mission in Skopje has been working on a new youth strategy, aimed at defining youth priorities. The National Youth Strategy is an investment in the future of young people, said the UN Resident Representative Armen Grigoryan. He said UNDP in the region, including North Macedonia, will continue to support youth organizations because it is necessary to encourage young people to choose what is best for their future and to become more engaged in the society.
