Skopje, 23 June 2022 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi met Thursday in Rome with President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico, which comes soon after the latter’s visit to North Macedonia. “This clearly indicates our commitment to continued cooperation and sharing of experiences, considering the record of the Italian parliament. The occasion for this visit is the signing of the Protocol on parliamentary cooperation between the Parliament of North Macedonia and the Italian Chamber of Deputies, thus opening a new chapter in bilateral relations and setting the foundation for further success and prosperity,” said Speaker Xhaferi after the meeting. He added that a concrete and clear signal is expected by the end of the French EU Presidency from all member-states, and especially Bulgaria, that the start of North Macedonia and Albania’s accession negotiations is more than a necessity, the Parliament said in a press release. “In this context, the unreserved and vocal support by our friends and traditional partners such as Italy only reaffirms our efforts in achieving the strategic goal and wish of our citizens – to be part of the European family of nations,” said Xhaferi.
