Xhaferi-Dukaj: North Macedonia and Montenegro to overcome challenges and successfully continue on EU path

Skopje, 28 July 2023 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi met on Friday with the Minister of Public Administration of Montenegro Marash Dukaj and welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding on digitization and information security between two countries and underscored the importance of regional cooperation in EU integration process of the two countries.

Xhaferi briefed Dukaj on started parliamentary procedure for amending the Constitution, as a prerequisite for the continuation of European integration, and a process that should continue on August 18 at the already scheduled plenary session of the Parliament, Parliament said in a press release.

Xhaferi also referred to North Macedonia’s holding the Chairpersonship of the OSCE, South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) and the Open Balkans.

“Minister of Public Administration of Montenegro, Dukaj, said that regional cooperation between our countries is important, because as small countries, together we can achieve more in our efforts for European integration. He pointed out the cooperation in the introduction of the PayPal electronic payment system and in the training of personnel for cybersecurity. In regard to the post-election process in Montenegro, Minister Dukaj informed that the Parliament of Montenegro was constituted yesterday, and further discussions on the formation of the Government will follow,” reads the press release.

Xhaferi and Dukaj expressed hope and mutual support that the Republic of North Macedonia and Montenegro will overcome the upcoming challenges and will successfully continue their path to the European Union. They also expressed hopes on further advancement of the relations between the two countries.
