Xhaferi-Džaferović: Joint efforts needed to intensify cooperation in all areas
Skopje, 28 September 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are two friendly countries that have excellent bilateral relations, free of unresolved issues, Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi said on Tuesday at a meeting with Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency member, Šefik Džaferović, underlining that the countries will continue to develop relations. At the meeting, Xhaferi congratulated Džaferović and all members of the Bosniak community in North Macedonia on 28 September – International Day of Bosniaks. He, his office said in a press release, also expressed readiness to encourage and support bilateral parliamentary cooperation at all levels and re-extended his invitation to his Bosnian colleagues to visit North Macedonia. “Speaker Xhaferi expressed satisfaction from the level of development of the rights of the Bosniak community in North Macedonia and what this signifies for all minority communities. He also stressed the importance of agreements signed between the two countries and expressed support for the EU integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the press release read. Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency member Džaferović underlined satisfaction over the visit and especially the visit to Parliament, which he last visited in 2004. He also said that parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in bilateral relations, opens many doors and builds friendships. “He agreed with Speaker Xhaferi that all stakeholders have to work even harder in the upcoming period to intensify cooperation in all areas. Džaferović also highlighted assurance that the time of conflict, war and ethnic cleansing is over. In regard to the rights of the Bosniak community in North Macedonia, he expressed satisfaction over the civil and correct approach the country has to its communities,” the press release read. At the end of the meeting, interlocutors agreed that bilateral communication and cooperation will continue to develop.
