Skopje, 13 March 2024 (MIA) – Caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski and the head of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Ejup Rustemi, inspected the rehabilitation works on the Katlanovo – Petrovec motorway section on Wednesday. The rehabilitation is expected to be completed by the beginning of April. The section is 11 kilometers long and its rehabilitation is a result of a EUR 10.5 million investment.

“Considering the intensity of the work there is no reason to think it won’t be completed, but the responsibility lies with the contractors and the supervision to do the job in line with what has been agreed,” said PM Xhaferi.

The rehabilitation of the section began in September 2020, but was prolonged after the institutions terminated the contract with the initial contractor, “Beton”, stating that it only managed to complete 11 percent of the agreed work in one year. “Stenton Gradba” is the new contractor working on the section.

“The reconstruction on this section of the Corridor was prolonged, but we will repeat – we haven’t turned back from any issue, from any challenge, we solved it and we are very close to the opening of this section of the motorway,” said Bochvarski.

Activities for the rehabilitation of the Demir Kapija – Negotino section as part of Corridor X are also in the final stage, said the Minister.
