Skopje, 10 August 2024 (MIA) - The 'Worth It' coalition said Saturday that a few days ago it has withdrawn the appointment of Afrona Verizvoli as auditor of IPA funds. The coalition notes that although she has an excellent CV and significant professional experience, a decision has been made to temporarily replace her with another staff member from their ranks.
"The decision was made in order to ensure that all the strict standards and requirements of the European Union will be fully met, while Afrona completes her obligation by obtaining the certificate," reads the press release.
In addition, the 'Worth It' coalition believes that it is of crucial importance to pay attention to research and detection of abuses of EU funds that have occurred in the past. Such abuses have not only left traces in documentation, but also caused the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) to request the return of several million euros from the state.
The 'Worth It' coalition, the press release adds, remains committed to the principles of transparency, responsibility and accountability in the management of public and European funds.
"We will continue to act in the best interest of citizens, in order to ensure the proper use of resources and prevent further abuses," the press release reads.
