- The working group charged with drafting amendments or a new Law on Pension and Disability Insurance in order to set a minimum pension and social measures for pensioners with low pensions is set to begin work on Wednesday, Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jovanka Trenchevska told the Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) in an interview Tuesday.
Skopje, 5 September 2023 (MIA) – The working group charged with drafting amendments or a new Law on Pension and Disability Insurance in order to set a minimum pension and social measures for pensioners with low pensions is set to begin work on Wednesday, Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jovanka Trenchevska told the Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) in an interview Tuesday.
“All proposals from the associations of pensioners, from the representatives of the protesting pensioners, the Pensioners’ Party and other stakeholders will be reviewed,” said Trenchevska and added that the working group will deliver its conclusions to the Government which will then make the final decision.
Trenchevska warned that any bad policy that would burden the country’s Pension and Disability Insurance Fund will increase the deficit in the pension system.
“That’s why we are focused on good policies and measures that will keep the pension system stable, both for the current 336.000 pensions, and for the future generations of pensions,” said Trenchevska.
The Minister stated that measures will be created that will target the pensioners who receive lower pensions, as well as those who live alone.
“The pensioners should be calm, pensions will continue to be paid out regularly, on the first of each month,” said Trenchevska.
