Skopje, 3 October 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says parties do not go into negotiations only to take part but to be successful, noting that talks with Bulgaria require patience.

"We are not in this only to take part but to be successful. This is what the whole process is about, not only to change the Constitution until the next obstacle in six months' time. This is an ongoing process, not one that starts this week and ends the next," PM Mickoski told Kanal 5.

According to him, where there's a will there's a way in order to avoid bilateralization of the entire process and eliminate further obstacles.

On the way in which Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban would mediate in the process, Mickoski says Orban's intention was to invite him and the Bulgarian President to Budapest for talks, in Hungary's capacity as the current EU Presidency holder.

"Let the EU be the arbiter. We can solve all issues in Budapest, so there are no more obstacles and to avoid bilateralization of the process. Let's start now," says Mickoski.

He adds that the two countries must be good neighbors but demands must be objective not bilateral.

"If we continually attack each other using arguments from the Middle Ages, then we will never leave this swamp," notes Mickoski.
