Brussels, 1 July 2022 (MIA) – I welcome the news today that Bulgaria and North Macedonia, with support of France, are close to an agreement which takes into account the interests and concerns of both sides.

This was tweeted Friday by the President of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, concerning the new French proposal to lift the Bulgarian veto on North Macedonia’s EU accession talks.

In the tweet she informed of a phone call with PM Dimitar Kovachevski and that the European Commission is ready to begin North Macedonia and Albania’s screening process, which is the next step on their path to the EU. ad/ba/
