Tetovo, 22 April 2025 (MIA) - Besa Movement leader Bilal Kasami said Tuesday in Tetovo that this week, parties within the VLEN coalition will appoint 23 representatives to the presidency of a new party bearing the same name. The presidency will draft a statute outlining the election of a party president and other bodies.
"We need to establish a unified body that will make future decisions, a statutory commission that will define all key aspects, such as the election process for the party president, the composition of the leadership, and mechanisms for oversight and balance. Since multiple entities are merging, it’s essential to create a natural integration into a single structure. The most important step already taken is the decision to form a joint presidency, which will determine the next phases toward unification. By law, the entire process must conclude with a joint congress and a formal decision to register with the Central Registry," Kasami told reporters following a local event.
Kasami said that the coalition won 107,000 votes, establishing its status as the legitimate representative of Albanian citizens.
“As a coalition, we received 107,000 votes, coming from an alliance composed of Albanian political parties. We know that the other coalitions were multiethnic, and in that regard, especially the DUI coalition, cannot claim to represent the rights of Albanians in the country. We believe that we earned those 107,000 votes to represent Albanians and other citizens in this government. Anyone who breaks away from this coalition does not have the backing of those 107,000 votes. That is why we believe that these 107,000 votes are our legitimacy to represent them in the government,” Kasami said.
