Skopje, 13 June 2023 (MIA) — A concert of young violinists will be held at the Philharmonic chamber hall at 8 pm as part of the new Violin Fest festival.

According to the Philharmonic in a press release, music school students from North Macedonia and Serbia will perform at the concert accompanied by Marija Vrshkova on piano.

The concert program includes works by Fritz Kreisler, Henryk Wieniawski, Olga Baclanova, Dmitry Kabalevsky, Camille Saint-Saëns, Béla Bartók, Manuel de Falla, and others.

The festival was organized by violinist and Philharmonic concertmaster Vladimir Kostov.

"The idea behind the festival, which ought to grow into a traditional one, was the wish to present young violinists from Macedonia in one place, regardless of their age," Kostov is quoted as saying in the press release.

He adds that the event will both showcase the students' talent and reflect the development of music instruction in the country. mr/
