Veles theater to stage 'The Mother' by Florian Zeller

Veles, 8 February 2025 (МIA) — Jordan Hadzhi Konstantinov Dzhinot Theater is staging a premiere of a version of Molière Award-winning playwright Florian Zeller's "The Mother" at 8 pm.


Zeller's award-winning and highly acclaimed play has been adapted for the Macedonian audience by playwright Sasho Dimoski and directed by Jordan Vitanov.


The cast includes Zorica P. Panchikj, who is marking the 30th anniversary of her acting career; Vasil Zafirchev; Sandra Tancheva; and Kire Acevski.


The set was designed by Jordan Vitanov, the costumes were designed by Rade Vasilev, and the music was selected by Sashko Kostov.


Florian Zeller (b. 1979, Paris) is a contemporary French novelist, playwright, theater director, screenwriter and film director.

 

He achieved his breakthrough with "The Mother" (2010), which tells the story of a woman in despair amid her aimless life, a loveless marriage and an empty nest.

 

Zeller's next play, "The Father" (2012) continued to explore themes of grief, loss, and mental illness, focusing on an elderly man suffering from dementia.

 

His play "The Son" (2018) has also been praised for its sensitive treatment of mental health issues, telling the story of a teenager struggling with depression and his parents' divorce. mr/
