US Embassy congratulates Independence Day: US values North Macedonia’s partnership in advancing global security, stability

Skopje, 8 September 2025 (MIA) - The Embassy of the United States congratulated North Macedonia on September 8 – Independence Day in a social media post Monday.
“This year is especially meaningful as we also mark 30 years of diplomatic relations between our countries. Over three decades, we’ve built a strong partnership – working together in diplomacy, security, education, culture, and more,” the Embassy said in its post.
The Embassy also pointed to an Independence Day greeting extended by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in which he noted that the U.S. remains committed to deepening the cooperation between the two countries to strengthen collective security and promote prosperity.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations to the people of North Macedonia as you celebrate the 34th anniversary of your independence and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two nations. The United States values North Macedonia’s steadfast partnership in advancing global security and stability. As a NATO Ally committed to defending peace and freedom, your pledge of increased defense spending at this summer’s NATO summit underscores North Macedonia’s dedication to our shared security goals. As we mark this milestone in our relationship, the United States remains committed to deepening our cooperation to strengthen collective security, combat transnational threats, and promote job-generating prosperity,” Secretary Marco Rubio said in his greeting.
