Urosevac court orders 40-day detention for Macedonian citizen wanted on international warrant

Pristina, 5 May 2024 (MIA) – The Basic Court in Urosevac said Sunday it ordered 40-day detention for a Macedonian who was arrested by the Kosovo police on May 3, on the basis of an international warrant issued at the request of North Macedonia, MIA's Pristina correspondent reports.

According to Court in Urosevac, a warrant has been issued by Interpol against the person, identified by the initials B.K., on suspicion of being a perpetrator of crimes of "preparation of terrorist acts and robbery".

"An international warrant has been issued against the defendant by Interpol, upon request dated  April 2, 2005 and May 9, 2008 from the state of North Macedonia. The defendant B.K. is suspected of having committed criminal offenses in the state of North Macedonia and on May 3, 2024 he was detained and arrested by the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Anti-Narcotics Unit in Urosevac," reads the press release.

The Macedonian Ministry of Interior told MIA that it has been notified on the arrest by the Kosovo authorities. 

Media outlets in the country report the case involves Agim Krasniqi, his brother Besim Krasniqi, Sehat Ramadani and Fadilj Toci who were arrested in Urosevac. International warrants have been issued for them by the Macedonian police. Agim Krasniqi has been on the run since February 2020, when he failed to return to the Shtip prison after a weekend furlough. He is still left 3 years and 3 months to serve the prison sentence.
