Unvaccinated account for 74% of new Covid infections, 76% of hospitalizations: ministry
Skopje, 22 October 2021 (MIA) – A total of 42,945 people tested positive for COVID-19 from August 6 until October 21. Of those, 11,253 (26%) were fully vaccinated, shows an analysis of the Ministry of Health, adding that fully vaccinated are considered those who have received two shots and those who received the second shot at least 14 days ago. “There are a large number of unvaccinated citizens who contracted COVID-19,” stresses the Ministry. According to statistics, 31,692 people (74%) of those who tested positive for COVID-19 were unvaccinated. 76% of hospitalizations are also unvaccinated people. Only 24% of all hospitalized patients at the moment are fully vaccinated. “Death rate among the unvaccinated is drastically high,” shows the analysis. A total of 1,506 people died in the country of Covid complications in the period from August 6 until October 2. 85% of those weren’t vaccinated and only 17% (260) had received two doses of the vaccine. The analysis shows that Covid fatalities had more than one medical condition. The patients had received all types of vaccines available in the country. “All the vaccines we have provided are safe. We urge the citizens to get vaccinated, it is the only way to create her immunity and prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 mutations,” says the Ministry of Health.
