Unvaccinated account for 71 pct of new cases, 80 pct of COVID-19 fatalities: health ministry
Skopje, 12 November 2021 (MIA) – In the period Aug. 6 – Nov. 11, 71% of people who tested positive for COVID-19 were unvaccinated, and 20% were vaccinated. Of the COVID-19 fatalities, 80% were unvaccinated, and 20% were vaccinated, shows the Ministry of Health’s analysis released on Friday.
People who have received two doses, with more than 14 days having passed since their second shot, are considered fully vaccinated, the Ministry of Health says.
“In the period Aug. 6 – Nov. 11, a total of 52,436 people tested positive for COVID-19. Of those, 15,456 (29%) were fully vaccinated. According to statistics, 36,980 people (71%) of those who tested positive for COVID-19 were unvaccinated,” reads the analysis.
The analysis shows that death rate among unvaccinated people is drastically high.
“In the period Aug. 6 – Nov. 11, a total of 1,788 people died in the country of COVID-19 complications. Of those, 1,434 patients (80%) weren’t vaccinated and only 20% (354) were vaccinated,” the Ministry says.
According to the analysis, the people who died from COVID-19 had several medical conditions. The patients had received all types of vaccines available in the country.
“All the vaccines we have provided are safe. We urge the citizens to get vaccinated, it is the only way to create herd immunity and stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2 mutations,” says the Ministry of Health.
