UK Ambassador Lawson meets with Siljanovska Davkova, relays Charles III's message on deepening Euro-Atlantic integration

Skopje, 20 May 2024 (MIA) — President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received Monday United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ambassador Matthew Lawson and discussed bilateral ties.
At the meeting, President Siljanovska Davkova highlighted the importance of the friendly relations and cooperation with the United Kingdom, including as part of the NATO alliance.
She also expressed readiness to further promote bilateral cooperation with the United Kingdom in all spheres of mutual interest.
"As a country, we especially appreciate the British support in fulfilling our strategic goal of membership in the European Union, which has continued even after Brexit," the official press release quotes her as saying at the meeting.
Ambassador Lawson handed Siljanovska Davkova a letter of congratulations from King Charles III on the occasion of her becoming President.
In the letter, the British king voiced his confidence that she, as the new head of state, would invest all her capacity into dealing with existing chalenges, from climate change to deepening North Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic integration.
Noting that bilateral trade and security relations were strong, he also expressed his hope that during her term in office she would work toward strengthening them further. mr/
