Washington, 20 April 2022 (MIA) – The United States strongly supports North Macedonia’s EU accession, said a State Department spokesperson when asked by MIA to comment on the recent opening of the Bulgarian cultural club named “Vancho Mihailov” in Bitola. “The United States has been clear about our strong support for North Macedonia’s accession into the EU,” said the State Department spokesperson. Earlier in the day, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani spoke over the phone with Gabriel Escobar, United States Deputy Assistant Secretary and Special Representative for the Western Balkans, focusing on North Macedonia-Bulgaria bilateral relations and the need for sooner overcoming of bilateral differences and lifting the veto for the start of the European Union accession negotiations.
