Two patients transferred to Poland, a Czech medical team arrives in country

Skopje, 18 March 2025 (MIA) - Two people injured in the Kochani nightclub fire have been transferred to Poland on Tuesday afternoon, said the EU Delegation of the European Union to North Macedonia.

"The Embassy of Poland has provided air ambulance transport for two people injured in the Kochani tragic fire. The patients will receive the required care in the Polish center for burns and reconstructive surgery," the EU Delegation wrote in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, Czech Ambassador Jaroslav Ludva posted on X that he welcomed a Czech medical team to support those affected by the tragic fire in Kochani.

"Their swift response and expertise reflect the strong bond between our nations. Our thoughts remain with all those impacted. We stand in solidarity during this difficult time," says Ludva.

Earlier in the day, Health Insurance Fund director Sasho Klekovski said over 70 patients have been successfully transported abroad. Given that capacities in the neighbouring countries are full, patients will, as of today, also be sent to Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. Medical teams from the Czech Republic and Israel are assisting doctors in the country, while a team from Britain will arrive today to help prepare for the next phase - rehabilitation of the injured.
