Two new routes to be launched from Skopje airport

Skopje, 22 January 2025 (MIA) – Two new routes, Skopje - Geneva and Skopje – Paris Orly airport, will be launched from the Skopje International Airport, the Transport Ministry said Wednesday.

The two destinations are introduced following demands from the diaspora, which will be operated by the British low-cost airline easyJet. The Skopje – Paris route will launch in April 2 and the Skopje – Geneva route on November 3.

The two routes are part of the financial support offered by the government through the Transport Ministry following an open call for financial assistance to airlines, said the press release adding the open call is still ongoing.

So far, the Transport Ministry has secured nine new routes, including Ohrid – Istanbul, Ohrid – Basel Mulhouse, Skopje – Dubai, Skopje – Stuttgart, Skopje – Lyon, Skopje – Barcelona.

“Paris and Geneva are two attractive destinations for the citizens. I believe we will motivate other airlines to send applications for the open call as we are already in negotiations and I expect other routes from our national airports to be introduced. We have the potential and we have the capacity. I also believe we will again increase the competitiveness of our airports in the region,” said Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikolovski as cited in the press release.
