Turkish Republic’s 102nd anniversary marked in Skopje

Skopje, 30 October 2025 (MIA) - A formal reception at the Turkish Embassy in Skopje marked the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye on Wednesday.

The reception was attended by high representatives of North Macedonia’s political and social life, including Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, as well as other ministers, MPs, mayors, and representatives of organizations and institutions from both countries.

In his address at the event, Turkish Ambassador Fatih Ulusoy thanked those present and conveyed greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He highlighted the progress achieved by the Republic of Türkiye since its founding 102 years ago. 

“Since the founding of the Republic, our country and nation have made great progress in every field. Türkiye is a member of the UN, NATO, OECD and G20, as well as a candidate country for the European Union. It plays an active role in foreign policy, mediation, the defense industry, humanitarian aid, and international development, contributing to global peace,” Ulusoy said.

Stressing the close ties between the two countries, Ulusoy noted that Türkiye and North Macedonia are connected through the strong bonds between the two peoples.

At the reception, a message from Turkish President Erdoğan was read on the occasion of October 29, Republic Day.

As part of the events marking the anniversary, the Turkish Embassy in North Macedonia, in cooperation with the Office of the Attaché for Culture and Promotion and the Association of Turkish Non-Governmental Organizations in Macedonia (MATÜSİTEB) organized a walk and cultural program earlier on Wednesday in the Old Skopje Bazaar.
