Tupancheski briefs Deputy Head of EU Delegation Vassallo on screening process
Skopje, 30 September 2022 (MIA) – Justice Minister Nikola Tupancheski met Friday with Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to North Macedonia, Julian Vassallo, discussing about European integration and the ongoing screening process.
“Tupancheski briefed Vassallo on the activities undertaken by the Ministry of Justice in terms of judiciary reforms and the legislative agenda. Chapter 23 "Judiciary and fundamental rights" is key in the negotiating process. Our country remains fully committed to fulfilling its obligations in order to enable progress, the rule of law, and functional institutions,” the Justice Ministry said in a press release.
Tupancheski noted it would be good to establish a special group within the Ministry of Justice to focus on the negotiation process.
Deputy Head of the EU Delegation was informed about the drafting of the new strategy for the judicial sector with a 2023-2027 Action Plan, as well as the legislative agenda and several laws.
Vassallo stressed that support in the European integration process will continue, and cooperation will intensify in the coming period.
