Tsipras: EU and international community to be clear on consequences of not respecting Prespa Agreement

Athens, 25 June 2024 (MIA) - The European Union and the international community should be clear regarding the consequences of not respecting the Prespa Agreement on the region, especially the future of North Macedonia, said former Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras has told a Council of Europe committee for the Western Balkans, MIA reports from Athens.

The committee discussed the importance of the Prespa Agreement for the peace, stability and European perspective of the Western Balkans, especially amid major challenges in the region.

The meeting included former Greek PM George Papandreou and university professors from Greece and North Macedonia.

Committee chair Tsipras noted that active efforts should be invested in the fight against nationalism and destabilization in the Western Balkans, primarily through support for the Prespa Agreement and EU's dynamic diplomacy in the region, since it risks a complete loss of credibility in the area.
