Tripunovski – Aggeler: U.S. supporting development of Macedonian agriculture and food production

Skopje, 31 July 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Cvetan Tripunovski met Wednesday with the United States Ambassador, Angela Aggeler.
According to the Ministry, at the meeting Tripunovski expressed gratitude for the overall assistance provided by the US for Macedonian agriculture, at the same time he requested assistance in dealing with the wildfires in the country.
“Through the NATO assistance mechanism, a request for assistance has been issued, in the meantime the Minister informed that a helicopter from Serbia has arrived, as well as two aircrafts from Germany and an aircraft from Czechia which is expected to arrive this evening,” the Ministry said in a press release.
At the meeting they also discussed issues faced by Macedonian farmers and the strengthening of the position of women in rural areas.
“The United States of America are providing assistance with the goal of developing Macedonian agriculture and the production of food, in order to fully use the potentials that Macedonia possesses such as quality fertile soil, sufficient water and many days of sunshine,” Tripunovski said.
At the meeting, it was agreed that agriculture should be developed in line with global standards and Macedonian farmers should receive modern and quality working conditions to boost food production and the export of agricultural products.
