Skopje, 28 June 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska met Wednesday with the newly appointed German Ambassador to North Macedonia, Petra Drexler, who emphasized the strong support to North Macedonia's EU path, and the support for resolving the societal narrative around the draft laws on records and gender equality, as well as their true meeting.
Interlocutors also referred to the previous cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and German Embassy, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy said in a press release.
"They discussed current developments in North Macedonia relating to the draft laws on gender equality and records. Ambassador Drexler expressed particular support for the harmonization of regulations and creating policies which are a part of the path to EU. She also indicated her strong support to resolving the challenges of gender equality, with particular focus on feminism. Minister Trenchevska noted the current situation and the open societal debate about the two laws - gender equality and records. She spoke about the true meaning of the laws with special emphasis on the importance of the law on gender equality, which is under jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, stressing that the goal of the law is to set up a mechanism that will promote gender equality in North Macedonia, both on a local and national level. Trenchevska also noted that the two laws, on records and gender equality, are different and separate laws," the press release reads. ssh/ik/
