Trenchevska – DiGiovanni: Cooperation with UNICEF is of particular importance, to continue intensively
Skopje, 28 September 2022 (MIA) – Deepening cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and UNICEF was in the focus of Wednesday’s meeting between Minister Jovanka Trenchevska and UNICEF Representative to North Macedonia Patrizia DiGiovanni.    “The upcoming consultation "Inclusion of Roma children" which is to be held in Athens in October was the main topic of discussion. Representatives from North Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Romania, Bulgaria and the European Commission will attend the consultation. The aim is that all participating countries exchange useful knowledge in this area. The focus is mainly on the inclusion of Roma children in preschool public institutions and housing,” the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy said in a press release.   According to the Ministry, talks between Trenchevska and DiGiovanni also focused on the Rulebook on Functional Assessment. The Minister noted it has been completed and comments from the legislation are expected. She also referred to the Parenting Strategy, stressing it is of particular importance in the country.   “Talks also tackled the issue of the need of children with combined disabilities for personal assistants,” says the Labor Ministry, adding that Minister Trenchevska has pointed out that in line with the legal amendments already in procedure since June, children with combined disabilities are also to have a personal assistant.   In addition, the Minister noted that comments and guidelines are particularly important and will all be taken into account when creating policies in the coming period.
