Transport Ministry: Besa Trans bus used another vehicle’s license, violated law
Skopje, 26 November 2021 (MIA) – The license number used by the bus involved in the accident that happened in Bulgaria on Tuesday doesn’t match its real license number, which means that the bus was using the license of another vehicle registered to Besa Trans, thus violating the Law on Road Transport, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said in a press release on Friday.
The Ministry added that it doesn’t have authority to conduct controls, noting that the information should be proven by international and domestic investigators.
The bus involved in the accident didn’t have an international license for transport of passengers and wasn’t registered in the Ministry’s e-database.
“The number of Besa Trans’s license for international transport of passengers is 007017. The license number 22679 that was used by the bus in question upon exiting North Macedonia belongs to another vehicle, also owned by Besa Trans,” the press release read.
The Ministry reiterated that the bus involved in the accident wasn’t registered in its e-database, meaning it didn’t have a license.
“According to Article 11 of the Law on Road Transport, the carrier may begin to perform transport of passengers and goods in the domestic and international road transport after obtaining a license and an extract of the license. The Transport Ministry has revoked Besa Trans’s work license after finding out it didn’t meet these requirements,” the press release stressed.
