Skopje, 17 November 2022 (MIA) - Completing the road and rail Corridor 8 is a challenge we are strongly focused on as of late. With the regional partners, Bulgaria, Albania and Italy, our goal is to turn this corridor into the only Western Balkans Corridor. As a result, we plan on investing over one billion euros in rail network alone, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski said addressing Thursday's panel on Cluster 4. He said he had discussed it with the European commissioner for transport in Brussels two days ago. "During our meeting with the European commissioner, we also asked for support from the European funds in these stage of the negotiations," stated the Minister. The priorities related to Clusters 21 and 4, Bochvarski added, also include the e-transport tool, enabling civil control of the domestic and international transport of passengers. "On Corridor 10, we have been working on introducing an intelligent transport system to implement measures for enhanced security and information for drivers in real time. A tender and implementation of the system is planned in 2023," he said. Speaking about the green agenda, the Minister revealed that the law on construction will be amended so as to simplify the procedure for installing photovoltaics for individuals and companies too. "The Covid pandemic forced us to act regionally. In that regard, North Macedonia was the first country that introduced green lanes with an EU member for a quick and timely transport of goods and services," Bochvarski noted. In addition to Minister Bochvarski, Environment Minister Naser Nuredini also delivered an address after Deputy PM Bojan Marichikj opened the debate on “Green Agenda – Renewable Resources, Macedonian Food, European Market”.
