Transport Minister Nikoloski meets EU Ambassador Rokas

Skopje, 12 September 2024 (MIA) - Deputy PM and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski met Wednesday with new European Union Ambassador Michalis Rokas, discussing the Government's programme in the sector of infrastructure.

Minister Nikoloski, accompanied by Deputy Minister Kaltrina Zekolli Shaqiri and Railway-Infrastructure public enterprise director Sinisha Ivanovski, highlighted the importance of the road and railway infrastructure, primarily the construction of the Corridor X speed rail, the Ministry of Transport said in a press release.

Nikoloski said the Corridor X speed rail project is realistic and of strategic importance for Macedonia, the region and the EU.

The Minister also highlighted the Government's strong commitment to the country's Euro-integration process, adding that the Ministry of Transport is actively working on aligning the national transport legislation with the EU law.

"We expect good cooperation with the EU Delegation, as has been the case until now. Let me welcome new Ambassador Rokas in hope that together we will realize the agreed policies and projects. The Union is our long-standing strategic partner and strong supporter in the accession process and the financial support of capital projects, for which we are truly grateful," said Nikoloski.
