Transport Minister Bochvarski to visit Sofia, sign memorandum for construction of Corridor VIII
Skopje, 19 October 2021 (MIA) - Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski is set to pay a working visit to Sofia on Tuesday and sign a memorandum of trilateral cooperation for development of sustainable road and rail infrastructure on Corridor VIII.
North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Albania are signatories to the memorandum.
“The memorandum aims to reaffirm the three parties’ readiness for long-term planning and coordinated development of Corridor VIII, with special focus on projects of great importance for the region,” the Ministry of Transport and Communications told MIA on Monday.
Moreover, the memorandum will reaffirm the signatories’ readiness to implement measures aimed at fast and uninterrupted transport of goods at border crossings.
Currently, a procurement process is underway for selecting a contractor that would construct the Kumanovo-Kriva Palanka railway in the eastern section of Corridor VIII.
