Traffic restored on Bulgaria highway after fatal bus accident
Sofia, 24 December 2021 (MIA) – Traffic on the 32nd kilometer along Struma highway in Bulgaria has been restored a month after the fatal bus accident that claimed the lives of 45 passengers returning to North Macedonia from a weekend trip to Istanbul.
The damaged fence has been replaced with a new one, signs have been restored. Max speed remains 120km/h, MIA’s Sofia correspondent reports.
A wreath commemorating the bus accident victims has been laid on the sign reading “32 km”.
Traffic was banned on one lane while investigators inspected the site following the November 23 accident.
After the accident, the Bulgarian agency for road assistance inspected whether signs, protective fences and horizontal signs around the crash site was in line with the law.
