Tourism Agency: Country’s tourism industry generates US$ 471.59 million in first three quarters of 2023

Skopje, 4 December 2023 (MIA) – The tourism industry has generated US$ 471.59 million in the Macedonian economy in the first three quarters of 2023, said the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism (APPT) in a press release Monday.

“Tourism revenue grew in the third quarter of 2023 as well, and stands at US$ 241.86 million in the Macedonian economy, recording a growth of 26.2 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The three quarters of 2023 have a combined growth of 25 percent compared to the same period last year, i.e., US$ 471.59 million in revenue from tourism in the GDP,” said the press release.

According to the head of the APPT, Ljupcho Janveski, it is no longer a matter of recovery, but a tourism sector in full condition, which, he said, “we have all worked on together in the past three years”.

“Not only do the results of the first three quarters give me the right to say that we will exceed the projected US$ 530 million for 2023, but also the projected US$ 550 million for 2024,” stressed Janevski.

The press release underlined that based on the figures, the country is a destination for all seasons.

“The focus is on active forms of tourism, rural and eco-tourism, as well as a strengthened offer in the eno-gastronomic concept. The new consumer trends have created a new tourism reality and new interests,” said the APPT.
