Toshkovski: Two suspects in Arachinovo shooting case detained yesterday

Skopje, 3 April 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski told a press conference on Wednesday that two suspects in connection with the Arachinovo shooting case were detained yesterday.

"Unfortunately, certain officials in the country deny things that have never been said by me, my team, or the Interior Minister's Office. Yesterday, it was reported that suspects were detained in connection with the incident in question. It is very important to use accurate and precise terminology when communicating certain information to the public," Toshkovski stressed.

He added that within the actions undertaken by the Interior Ministry, it has been established that one of the detained persons had an active warrant. That information, he noted, was announced yesterday and the same will be processed as such in accordance with the law.

"I wouldn't go into details that could jeopardize the investigation, and I am very careful with the language and terminology I use, and I ask authorities within all institutions that provide information to the public to do the same. I urge you to follow instructions given by the Public Prosecutor's Office, i.e. be mindful of what is said in public in order not to jeopardize the investigation," Toshkovski said.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor's Office said in connection with the shooting targeting Mayor of the Municipality of Arachinovo, Ridvan Ibraimi, in which two people accompanying the mayor were injured, that an on-duty public prosecutor inspected the scene and issued orders to collect evidence and carry out appropriate investigations.

The Prosecutor's Office added that a warrant will be issued for securing video surveillance footage from surrounding facilities, as well as to take further action. ssh/nn/
