Toshkovski: Ready to respond vehemently to any real destabilization attempts

Skopje, 30 September 2024 (MIA) — The Ministry of Interior is "ready to respond vehemently to any challenges aimed at destabilizing Macedonia, if there are any in reality," Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski said Monday.

Speaking to the press after commissioning of the police's K9 Regional Training and Certification Center, Minister Toshkovski said all information gathered by police investigators was being shared with the relevant authorities as well as with the Prime Minister and the President.

"We responded to all attempts to fuel inter-ethnic tensions in reality over the past few months," the interior minister said.

"We will respond accordingly in the future as well. When I say respond accordingly, I mean that the Interior Ministry has the necessary capacities to respond in a way that helps citizens feel safe and peaceful and exercise their rights within this system of security and peace," he added.

Toshkovski also said police investigators had recently launched a large number of probes.

"There will be results," he said, "where we have evidence that the law and standard operating procedures have been violated, where we have evidence the Macedonian people have been robbed, we will respond accordingly, with criminal charges and criminal proceedings. Where we do not have evidence, we will also deal with it accordingly."

Asked about the attack on Football Federation of Macedonia president Muhamed Sejdini on Friday, the interior minister said the appropriate actions were being taken. mr/
