Toshkovski: Planes, helicopters from Turkey, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro to help fight against wildfires

Skopje, 15 July 2024 (MIA) - Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski chaired a session of the Steering Committee for Coordination and Management of the Crisis Management System on Monday, with the Committee noting the need to activate international mechanisms to secure aircraft that would help fight against the wildfires in the country.
The session was attended by Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, as well as the head of the Assessment Group within the Crisis Management Center (CMC), Stojanche Angelov, the Interior Ministry said in a press release.
“The session noted the need of activating international mechanisms for securing assistance through aircraft which would join the efforts of dousing the wildfires raging across the country. On Monday morning, two ‘Air Tractors’ and one helicopter arrived from Turkey, and they are already actively working on the ground. Two helicopters from Slovenia, as well as one helicopter from Serbia and one from Montenegro, will arrive on Tuesday,” stressed Minister Toshkovski.
The ministers voiced their gratitude to the friendly countries who are helping the country combat the wildfires, the press release said.
