Toshkovski expects an incident between police officers to be resolved swiftly
- The caretaker Minister of Interior, Panche Toshkovski, has strongly condemned the incident that took place last night, in which a police officer assaulted his colleague while carrying out official duties. Toshkovski said that the relevant public prosecutor is informed about the case and has urged the relevant authorities within the Ministry of Interior to act professionally in accordance with standard operational procedures.
Skopje, 18 February 2024 (MIA) – The caretaker Minister of Interior, Panche Toshkovski, has strongly condemned the incident that took place last night, in which a police officer assaulted his colleague while carrying out official duties. Toshkovski said that the relevant public prosecutor is informed about the case and has urged the relevant authorities within the Ministry of Interior to act professionally in accordance with standard operational procedures.
"Regarding the incident that occurred this morning in front of a catering facility in Skopje, involving police officers, I wish to inform the public that I strongly condemn any form of violence, particularly when committed by employees of the Ministry of Interior. Relevant public prosecutor is informed about the case and I urged the relevant authorities within the Ministry of Interior to act professionally in accordance with standard operational procedures, in order to swiftly resolve this case, the public will be promptly informed of the outcome of the actions taken," Minister Toshkovski's Facebook post stated.
The Ministry of Interior has reported that last night, at a catering facility in Skopje’s downtown, police officers within Skopje Interior Ministry Regional Office detained I.B. (43) from Skopje, a police officer who was off duty, for physically assaulting a fellow officer who was on duty.
The Ministry stated that appropriate charges will be filed against the perpetrator after thorough documentation of the case.
