Toshkovski attends Berlin Process Interior Ministers' meeting

Skopje, 17 September 2024 (MIA)  - A delegation led by Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski is attending the annual Berlin Process Interior Ministers' meeting in Germany on Tuesday.

"As we are celebrating the tenth anniversary of this initiative, the Western Balkans region is living a historic momentum in terms of its European perspective, and it is the Berlin Process that can achieve synergy of the individual efforts of the six Western Balkan countries as a preparation mechanism for EU accession," the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

As part of a session on the fight against irregular migration as well as migrant smuggling, Minister Toshkovski pointed out that migration and migration movements have been one of the main challenges for a long time, not only for the Western Balkan region, but also for Europe, adding that coordination is necessary of all existing initiatives and measures to deal with illegal migration, migrant smuggling and human trafficking, not only by and in the Western Balkans region, but also at the level of the European Union and international partners.

Addressing a session on the fight against organized crime, Minister Toshkovski underlined that regardless of whether it is about organized crime, human trafficking, illegal migrations, drug trafficking... every initiative for regional connection in the fight against organized crime and the rapid exchange of information between services is really important.

"In the joint fight against organized crime, and especially when it comes to tracking the money and financial structures of organized criminal groups, it is essential to integrate all competent institutions, thus developing an early warning system as a powerful tool in the fight against organized crime and other illegal activities," Toshkovski pointed out.
