Skopje, 1 April 2026 (MIA) – April Fool’s Day around the world celebrates humour, laughter and harmless pranks. In our country, traditionally, children put on masks as superheroes, princesses, ladybugs, bees, doctors, chefs to parade in various parts of the city making it joyful and colourful.
On April Fool’s Day 2026, the Karposh Children’s Cultural Center, under the auspices of the City of Skopje, is organizing an event, starting at 10:30 am, at the City Trade Mall (GTC).

The event features a parade of masked children from kindergartens and elementary schools as well as music and dance performances, including the children’s musical “Aladdin and the Magical Lamp.”
Promoted as a party that unites all generations, Wednesday’s event is created for children, their parents and the public in general to encourage children’s creativity, artistic expression and the spirit of community.

Declaring April as the Month of Humour and Satire, Osten organizes exhibits of caricatures.
On April 1-14, caricatures and satirical works by the renowned caricaturists, Dimitar Chudo and Mice Jankulovski will be displayed at Osten’s gallery. An exhibit of caricatures by the Croatian Association of Caricaturists will open on April 21 in cooperation with the Croatian embassy in Skopje.

In some countries such as New Zealand, the UK, Australia, and South Africa, the jokes only last until noon, and someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool". Elsewhere, such as in France, Ireland, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Russia, The Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Canada, and the US, the jokes last all day.
