Toshkovski – Krösser: German support on EU path, fight against crime

Skopje, 18 July 2024 (MIA) - Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski held a working meeting Thursday with a delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany, led by the State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community, Bernd Krösser.
According to the Ministry, at the meeting Toshkovski thanked for the assistance that Germany has provided to the country and the Interior Ministry, noting that it is one of the countries that has so far provided the most assistance in terms of donations and training.
State Secretary Krösser voiced hope over the realization of the Ministry’s ambitious plans and stressed that improving the efficiency of the police is important to the functioning of the rule of law.
“In the context of the fight against organized crime, the State Secretary noted that in addition to an efficient police, the efficiency of the judiciary is important as well, and that increasing the trust in the police requires increase the trust in the judiciary as inseparable parts of the process of implementing laws and the rule of law. In that context, it was stressed that assistance for the fulfillment of all European standards and processes is there and will only be upgraded,” the Ministry said in a press release.
The State Secretary also voiced his satisfaction that the joint dialogue will continue at the Berlin Conference within the Berlin Process, to be held in September, where participants will have a chance to discuss and make decisions over the European future of the Western Balkan region.
