Top EU officials after deadly nightclub fire: Europe mourns with you on this tragic day

Brussels, 16 March 2025 (MIA) - Top EU officials have expressed condolences over the deadly fire in a nightclub in Kochani that killed at least 51 people.

"Heartbroken by the loss of so many young people in the terrible fire in Kochani. My thoughts go out to all the families of the victims of this tragedy," European Council President Antonio Costa said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The EU stands in solidarity with the people of North Macedonia in this moment of grief, he concluded.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said her thoughts on Sunday are with the people of North Macedonia and the families and friends of all those who lost their lives in the terrible fire that broke out this night in Kocani.

"I wish a speedy recovery to all those injured. Europe mourns with you on this tragic day," she said in a X post.

Earlier, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, and EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos also expressed condolences in posts on X.

At least 51 people died and 150 are injured when a fire broke out in a nightclub in Kochani during a concert.
