Skopje, 5 June 2025 (MIA) –- The government has earmarked 30 million denars from the national budget for the transport of the burn patients from the Kochani fire to hospitals out of the country as well as for the accommodation of their relatives accompanying them, according to Ivica Tomovski, the head of the governmental General and Common Affairs Service at a panel discussion titled "Kochani Is Our Priority."
"The accomodation costs are being covered for the seven patients who are still receiving medical care abroad.
"We hope they will come back soon. As of yet, 21 million denars has been spent, but this does not mean we stop here. The state stands ready to help until the moment when we get a clear picture and bring back the patients to Macedonia and help them recover completely," Tomovski said.
He noted the government's cooperation with the Red Cross, as well.
"We joined the donation account of the Red Cross and we provided help to the patients receiving treatment in foreign hospitals and in local ones," he said.
In his remarks, Tomovski also thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Defense for providing the logistical support in transporting and accommodating the patients outside of the country. mr/
