Skopje, 22 August 2023 (MIA) — The government has adopted three new support measures for wheat growers, wheat and barley seed producers, and tomato and cucumber growers, Agriculture Minister Ljupcho Nikolovski told a press conference Tuesday.

The state will provide three denars per kilogram of wheat grown and delivered, or stored; three denars per kilogram of homegrown certified first and second generation wheat and barley seeds; 35 denars per kilogram of tomatoes grown and sold from April 5 through May 31 as well as 30 denars per kilogram of cucumbers grown and sold from April 5 through May 15, when the price freeze was still in effect, Nikolovski said.

The agriculture minister said the new measures, to be implemented through the Intervention Program, would help out farmers. He also recalled a previous decision of the government to provide additional support of 12,000 denars for a barley yield of over three tons. mr/
