Skopje, 11 November 2021 (MIA) – DPA MP Menduh Thaci said on Thursday that the current government will survive the no-confidence vote, Zoran Zaev will remain in power in the next three years and North Macedonia will get a date to start EU accession negotiations. He also discussed with the ‘Morning Briefing’ show secret consultations held between cabinet partners ahead of Thursday’s no-confidence motion. “I think the government will survive the no-confidence vote and North Macedonia will get a date to start talks,” Thaci said. Moreover, he underlined that VMRO-DPMNE met with DUI, but noted that the latter is “unlikely to want early elections due to its poor ratings.” Thaci added that BESA’s election results are negligible, while Alliance for Albanians has the ambition to fight for power. He also stressed that both Zaev and the opposition were too quick to make their decisions about the resignation and the no-confidence motion respectively. “As an experienced politician, I don’t understand where all the money for the elections came from. These weren’t local elections, or local initiative, it was an initiative to change the country’s order. It’s up to the services to find out if the money came from China or Russia. Our Prime Minister bravely resigned. In Kosovo, the PM’s party also lost the local elections, but no one even asked him about resigning,” Thaci told the ‘Morning Briefing’ show. He also said that if the no-confidence vote fails, Zoran Zaev has the mandate to negotiate and reshuffle cabinet. “I think we’ll have good news on the 15th,” Thaci noted.
