Tetovo, 31 May 2022 (MIA) – Environment Minister Naser Nuredini, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi and Tetovo Mayor Bilal Kasami visited Tuesday the site at a disused building of the Makedonija Tabak factory, where a large fire broke out yesterday. The premises of the Pofix company, which is currently located there, burned down in the fire. The government ministers met with company officials to discuss ways for assistance to repair the damage done by the blazes. “It’s important that everything is now under control,” Nuredini told reporters warning that air pollution levels are high in the city of Tetovo as a result of the fire. Deputy PM Bytyqi said there were no victims fortunately, only huge material damage has been reported. “Material damages can be compensated with joint forces as we help each other when companies should invest,” Bytyqi said. Mayor Kasami told reporters that students on Tuesday can return to school since the air quality started improving after they were told to stay at home for two days due to increasing air pollution. “Classes return to normal,” he said. EUR 12 million in damages has been reported by the company after their warehouse burned down. According to the company, the fire broke out as a result of torrential rain that flooded certain parts of the city. Several firefighters sustained light injuries while battling the fire, which has been fully extinguished.
