Tender for construction of North Macedonia-Greece gas interconnection pipeline published

Skopje, 24 November 2023 (MIA) - The tender for the construction of the gas interconnection pipeline between North Macedonia and Greece has been published on the official website of the European Union.

 

The opening of tenders will take place in sixty days, i.e. on February 1, 2024, at 12:00 local time. 

 

The 123km-long gas interconnection pipeline will extend from Nea Mesimvria to Negotino and link the two national gas transmission systems. The section on the territory of North Macedonia, from Gevgelija to Negotino, will be 67km long, with an estimated total value of more than EUR 83 million. 

 

The Greek natural gas transmission system operator DESFA took over the project management for the section of the gas interconnection pipeline that will pass through the country, after it was selected in a tender published by the state company "Nomagas".

 

The project is financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and is subject to EIB's Guide to Procurement.

 

The gas interconnection pipeline is set to be completed by mid-2025.
