Team Europe and UN to present 2024 European Woman of the Year award

Skopje, 8 March 2024 (MIA) - Team Europe and the UN in North Macedonia will present Friday the 2024 European Woman of the Year award on International Women’s Day.

European Woman of the Year is an award established in 2022 by the Delegation of the European Union as a way to acknowledge and promote equality and equal opportunities as a fundamental EU value. The second, 2024 edition is organised under the patronage of Team Europe and the UN Representation in North Macedonia. Seven patrons teamed up with seven nominees – exquisite women recognised as change-makers within their respective communities, the EU Delegation said in a press release.

Almira Fasljii Muarem, Roma activist from Skopje – presented by H.E. Petra Drexler, Ambassador of Germany; Maria Duda Dibiaggo, Entrepreneur from Kriva Palanka – presented by Mr Björn Gabriel, Head of EIB Representation; Katerina Koteska-Stisniovska, Attorney at Law from Bitola – presented by H.E. José Luis Lozano Garcia, Ambassador of Spain; Elmedina Abdullahi, Environmental advocate from Tetovo – presented by H.E. Sophia Philippidou, Ambassador of Greece; Gresa Mustafai, Athlete from Struga – presented by H.E. Gregor Presker, Ambassador of Slovenia; Ana Vitanova Ringacheva, University professor from Strumica – presented by H.E. Ami Larson Jain, Ambassador of Sweden; Daliborka Zlateva, Advocate for the disabled from Veles – presented by Ms Rossana Dudziak, UN Resident Coordinator.

The seven nominees may not be known to the wider public; yet, they blaze the trail and inspire others to follow suit. As such, they are regarded as agents of positive change in the entire society and thus nominated for the award by their patrons. While these things make all of them European Women of the Year, the nominee with the highest number of reactions on the Facebook page of the Delegation of the European Union will be awarded the title European Woman of the Year for 2024 during the ceremony, reads the press release.
