Skopje, 30 April 2025 (MIA) - Health Minister Arben Taravari told journalists Wednesday he is happy that the parties in the VLEN (Worth It) coalition merged into one entity, adding that his bloc of the Alliance of Albanians will run at the local elections with their own candidates for council members and mayors. Taravari stressed that this is not the time for early general elections.
“VLEN merged yesterday, I wish them a lot of success. I am happy that the three parties merged. Better for them to be a single party than three parties. I wish them success in the elections. As the Alliance [for Albanians] we will run with our own candidates for council members and, most likely, for mayors too,” Taravari told journalists.
Quizzed if that means AA is no longer a part of VLEN and whether its five MPs would notify Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi that they will operate as a separate parliamentary group, Taravari said such a decision has not been made.
“We haven’t made such a decision for now. However, if this is initiated, we have our five MPs, they will continue to operate as a parliamentary group, and VLEN will have its own group,” Taravari said.
He stressed that now is not the time for early elections, adding that this is also the party’s position.
“There is a stable majority, regardless of whether we are in the government or not,” Taravari said.
Taravari said he would meet with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski as soon as he returns from Spain.
