Taravari: Our friendship with the US is sacred; we will strive for an integrated Macedonia in the EU and away from Russian influence

Skopje, 22 April 2024 (MIA) - Worth It coalition presidential candidate Arben Taravari held his final rally Monday evening at Skanderbeg Square in Skopje ahead of Wednesday's vote.

At the rally, Taravari stated that he had come to Skopje after numerous meetings and gatherings across the country, as well as in the diaspora. He carefully listened to the problems faced by citizens for the past 22 years. He expressed support for North Macedonia's membership in the European Union, with a lasting friendship with the United States. Taravari emphasized that the actions of the Worth It coalition will fully align with the strategic interests of the United States.

“As President of the Republic, I commit that my foreign policy will be based on European and pro-Western values, with the goal of the country's membership in the European Union. We will achieve this with the support of our steadfast ally, without whose assistance we would not be where we are today - the United States of America. For us, friendship with America is sacred, and the Worth It coalition vows that every step we take in the future will be fully in line with the strategic interests of the United States, meaning North Macedonia integrated into the EU and far from Russian influence, North Macedonia cured of the epidemic of corruption as a precondition for social and economic development,” Taravari said.

As president, he vows to work tirelessly for North Macedonia to become a secure state and to promote regional security and peace.

"I will ensure that we have credible defense capabilities, as part of our commitments to NATO and the EU," Taravari said, adding that he will fight to restore trust in the judiciary by combatting corruption and that throughout his tenure, he will defend consensual democracy, freedom of expression, and the judicial system," Taravari stressed.
