Gostivar, 7 August 2023 (MIA) - Alliance for Albanians (AA) leader Arben Taravari said Monday he was an optimist that the constitutional changes would be adopted in the Parliament, noting that the party would discuss further steps if the revision failed to materialize.
"I expect the plenary session on the constitutional amendments to be held in a couple of weeks. In this regard, AA discussed this issue at its presidency meeting last week. We did not talk about leaving the government. The important thing at this moment is for the constitutional changes to pass and we are still optimists they will. If not, the party will take decisions in accordance with further developments," Taravari told reporters.
According to him, early elections are not an option because "the November-December period is not suitable for this".
"Presidential elections will take place in March-April and therefore the parliamentary polls should not be held in July. Administering two election cycles in such a short period is irrational and costs a lot. Nevertheless, decisions on the parliamentary elections require a consensus among political parties," underlined Taravari.
